Visit in person before booking. Ask how many dogs the trainer takes at once, who will personally handle your dog, where dogs sleep, what methods and equipment are used, and how many follow-up lessons are included. Ask for references from clients with a dog like yours. A trainer who welcomes a facility tour and answers method questions plainly is worth more than one with a slicker website.
Some do, particularly for clients within a metro radius, and a few include transport in the program price. Others require you to drop off and pick up yourself — which many trainers prefer anyway, since the pick-up visit doubles as your go-home lesson.
